Giveaway: Strawberry Hedgehog

Giveaway: Strawberry Hedgehog

Winners!

coldandsleepy, soap: I love anything that smells like incense, as long as patchouli isn’t involved. Patchouli makes me want to die. I love Patchouli but I won’t hold that against you.
Monica, deodorant: I’ve been wanting to give this brand a try since seeing it on VBR! I think my favorite scents usually come from nature like jasmine or anything fresh and floral. Even my husband wishes for cologne that smells like dirt…he’s a little weird 🙂 You can totally get dirt scented essential oils, I have a perfume with dirt notes!

After the news broke that Urban Decay would be selling in China, which requires animal testing (but we got them to change their minds, woo!), I learned that a lot of vegans have no idea about what they are putting in their showers, medicine cabinets, and so forth. A lot of them are confused by animal testing, third party testing, parent companies, it makes you dizzy! A lot of people just give up on trying to navigate cruelty-free bath and beauty. If you are one of those people who doesn’t know where to start, let me give you a tip: shop with all-vegan, indie companies as much as possible! Yes, you will spend a little more money than at the drugstore, but what you put on your body matters just as much as what you put in it.

One of the companies you should definitely start with is Strawberry Hedgehog. Not just for the reasons mentioned above, but because Tracy makes beautiful, delicious smelling soaps (and a large variety to boot), scrubs, moisturizers, and now deodorant! Finding vegan, natural deodorant that works worth anything is definitely a challenge. Since I haven’t tried the deodorant, I went over to the most trusted source for Strawberry Hedgehog product reviews, Vegan Beauty Review. This is what Sunny had to say:

Why I love this deodorant above all others:

It comes in a jar—SO much easier to apply (compared to similar-ingredient “stick” versions which are crazy crumbly)
I tried the Peaceful Person deodoro (thanks, Tracy), and the beautiful and relaxing lavender-scented concoction seriously worked like nothing I’ve ever tried before (and I’m a stinky beast). It even out-performed Lavanila as far as its long lastingness goes. I was skeptical, too (the ingredients seemed too simple)… but it turned out to be simply amazing! My arm pits and I are in awe. And I wanna say, that granted Tracy of Strawberry Hedgehog is my homegirl, I am 100% keeping s–t real with y’all. You will NOT stink if you rock this stuff. If I’m wrong, you can b—h-slap me over the internet. 😉
You’ll never have to worry about pit stains on your clothing, clogged pores, toxic ingredients seeping into your skin, etc. when you make the switch to natural deodorant. Whatever you do, ditch the conventional name brands you’ve been buying at the store. They are all evil.

Tracy has offered up two prizes today for two lucky winners: one jar of the deodorant (your choice of either Femme Fatale, Strong Man, or Peaceful Person), and any three bars from her top 10 scents (pictured above). To enter, simply comment here and tell me what your favorite scent is (it can be food!), and which prize you would want. US only, a winner will be picked tomorrow (the 17th) at 4 pm CST.

  1. My favorite scents are LAVENDER and PEACH!!

Oh goodness, I would love love love to have a deodorant jar. I hate the idea of aluminum in commercial anti-perspirants (not to mention the testing cruelty) and my life is an endless quest to find a great ethical alternative. This brand looks looooovely!

  2. My favorite scent is strawberry! So fresh and delicious. If I would choose the jar of the deodorant. I am fairly sure that the kind I use now is not friendly to anyone – the earth, me or animals. It just didn’t really occur to me until now!

  3. My favorite scent is fresh basil!! I’d definitely love to try the deodorant — I’m intrigued by the review. I’ve tried a couple vegan, cruelty-free deodorants, but sometimes, they’re not quite strong enough or pleasant smelling (which kind of defeats the purpose, heh).

  4. I think my favorite scent is cinnamon.
I haven’t had much luck with natural deodorants in the past, so I’d love to try the Femme Fatale deodorant!

  5. My favorite scent is lemon and fresh baked bread. I would totally love to try the deoderant, I have been going sans deoderant and it has not been pretty!!

  6. I lost most of my sense of smell in an accident wherein I suffered from severe head & facial trauma. My favorite scent, however, is when I can walk into a coffee shop or diner & can actually smell strong coffee brewing. The first time it happened, I nearly cried.

I would love to try the Peaceful Person!

  7. My absolute favorite scent(s) are vanilla and warm autumn spices. That’s just one of the reasons that I love this time of year so much. I’d like to try the Peaceful Person deodorant first, as I’m more inclined to subtle things.

  8. Petrichor: “The distinctive scent which accompanies the first rain after a long warm dry spell.”

That is my favorite smell and I was lucky enough to experience that last week when it finally rained here in Portland! Woo hoo!

I would love some of that deoderant in Peaceful Person or Femme Fatale. Sadly I have the same probably as Sunny, and I would love for some animal (and people!) friendly odor destroying love for my pits. 😀

  9. I kick it ole school hands down poucholli. Dang auto correct. Because I am allergic to most deodarents and am always looking to try new ones some peaceful person deo for my b.o. would be superb….

  10. My favorite scent is rain on pavement, but that doesn’t make a very good soap scent! Citrus comes in a close second. Orange clove sounds so good!

  11. DRYER SHEETS are my weakness. I don’t like to use them on my clothes, but I love to tuck them into random drawers and boxes. Then I get surprised when I open something, and the wow fresh scent just shoots out.
I’m also very fond of fresh cut grass smell. Hmmmmm.

  12. Anything that smells (or tastes) (or looks) like peanut-butter gets my appetite going. Even a stranger’s breath with the lingering scent of stale peanut-butter from breakfast arouses me here and there… I hope you appreciate honesty… Anywho, all of Strawberry Hedgehog’s Scents sound amazing! I would definitely love to try the coconut-almond, so I could sing “I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts”, while scrubbing my..self in the shower.

  13. My favorite sent in the world is the smell on my children’s hair, but onions and garlic cooking is a nice smell too. Oh and vanilla, rain, books, and attics.

  14. My favorite scent is musk! I seriously can’t get enough of it 🙂 If I were to win I would pick the deodorant since all the vegan ones I’ve tried just aren’t cutting it (I swear I don’t stink THAT much :p) in peaceful person.

  15. I love the smell of fresh lemon/ orange peel when i’m making my favorite batch of oatmeal in the morning or an italian vegan dessert encompassing them both! It fills the room with the citrus scent and its wonderful! Especially when its coming from the yummy food youre about to eat. I would love to try the Femme Fatale Deodorant. The top 3 soaps I would be interested in would probably be coconut-almond, cooling mint, and sweet orange-clove.

  16. I have a wide verity of “likeable scents”
love the smell of strawberries , but mint is good aswell.
Chamomile and lavender are amazing as a duo, and so is vanilla and brown sugar!
Hmm, I’m conflicted between smelling earthy or like baked goods…
As far as the scent of choice for the deodorant jar(if I should so win) would be femme fatal
and the three bars: lavender vanilla, cooling mint, and Tutu Rosemary

  17. I have recently realized that I love the smell of a freshly cut parsnip. Such a fresh sweet smell.
If I were to win this contest I would choose the three soap bars in blueberry lavender, coconut almond, and sandalwood-patchouli.

  18. My favorite smell is that of Black Truffles. I literally feel it internally….earthy, dark, yum!
I would love to try the deodorant. I use LaVanilla, but it REALLY doesn’t cut it on the hot days…boo hiss.

  19. My favorite scent is the smell of blended kale. When the smell of my kitchen can be described as the same as a raw restaurant or fresh cut grass, I’m happy! 🙂

  20. I love anything that smells like incense, as long as patchouli isn’t involved. Patchouli makes me want to die.

I would go for the soap because oh geez, there’s no such thing as too much fancy soap.

  21. I LOVE the smell of clover. I would most like to try the soap in sweet orange-clove, because that sounds amazing.

  22. I love the scent of coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, and lavender — only not all at the same time. I’d love to try the Femme Fatale!

  23. Ripe black plums. When they’re ripe off the tree and warm from the sun, they smell floral and a bit fruity. It’s amazing.

  24. I think the smell of cinnamon buns baking is probably the greatest scent ever. If I win, I’d like Peaceful Person but Femme Fatale is a close second!

  25. I am a fresh laundry kind of gal. But Coconut Almond, Tea Tree Rosemary or Lemongrass Ginger scents do sound appealing!

  26. My favorite smell would either be coffee or something sweet baking. There is something about both of those scents that invokes such a feeling in me.

I would LOVE to try the natural deodorant. As a runner, I’m always putting on deodorant and would love to try a more natural approach.

  27. My favorite scent is lavender. It’s so fresh and calming. I would choose the deoderant for a prize. It sounds wonderful!

  28. Blueberry and lavender sounds amazing!!

I really, really want to try this deodorant. I currently am on the hunt for a natural deodorant that actually works for me!

  29. I am definitely one of those people who has trouble navigating the bath and body stuff. I would really love to try this and have a go-to “brand” that I can order and not have to worry about! My absolute favorite scent, usurping all others, is the combination of mint and eucalyptus.

  30. My favorite scents are ones that are calming, like lavender, vanilla, and anything spicy; I am sure I would love Peaceful Person! Thank you!

  31. I love the smell of a summer afternoon after a hard rain. I love the smell of pomegranates, mango, oranges… and chocholate chip cookies baking in the oven.
I would try the femme fatale deodorant. The one I use now is probably the worst kind and I’d like to try something new, as long as it doesn’t make me smell like dead flowers, which drives me crazy about most of the deodorants out there.

  32. I really love Lavender, Vanilla, citrus scents… If I were lucky enough to win, I would LOVE to try the Peaceful Person deodorant (I am definitely in the stinky beast category) and there are lots of yummy-sounding soaps as well. Thank you for the chance!

  33. Scents are wonderful things – I do adore the scent of vanilla. One of the things I like most about baking is smelling the vanilla extract. One day in the far future I’ve also dreamed of having a wedding bouquet with fresh basil, just because it smells so darn appealing.

    These products sounds fantastic!

  34. My favorite scents are lavender and lemon!

I would love to try the blueberry-lavender, lavender vanilla, and lemongrass ginger scents and the femme fatale deodorant.

  35. I love the smell of fresh baked bread, it just makes me very happy and relaxed,I could just sit in a bakery for hours just smelling the bread. I would like to try the deodorant, that would be awesome if i won that.

  36. I once bought a candle that was called “Holiday Cheer.” I have been forever trying to find its match…it’s something apple-y, and cinnamon-y, and warm and so wonderful. I have yet to find one the same – I so wish I had gone back and stocked up!!

  37. Lemons; I love the smell of anything lemon. Maybe it’s my sour personality. 😉 Probably need some of that Peaceful Person Deodorant.

  38. I’ve been wanting to give this brand a try since seeing it on VBR! I think my favorite scents usually come from nature like jasmine or anything fresh and floral. Even my husband wishes for cologne that smells like dirt…he’s a little weird 🙂

  39. Cinnamon! Not those weird cinnamon broom things though. I walked into a Jo-Ann’s Fabric store the other day and I didn’t think my nostrils would ever lose the stench.

  40. I vote mint! Yummy with chocolate, tea, dessert, dinner, salad, and also in beauty products – surprisingly neutralising without being overly perfume-y 🙂
The best part – my s.o. and I just rescued a kitten who gets _really_ hyper, but settled cozily on the couch with me a few days ago after I applied a natural-minty balm to the scratches she gave me the day before! Maybe she just puttered out but to me sounds like she was trying to vote for mint too! =P

  41. I love spicy scents that remind me of the holidays….though not for perfume, I don’t want to smell like potpourri 😉

  42. I think you read my mind because I like all of my grooming and beauty products to smell like food. I prefer baked goods like vanilla cookies or chocolate, but I’ll settle for fruit flavors like coconut and peach in a pinch.
