Monday Giveaway: ecoVegan Blissful Bits

Monday Giveaway: ecoVegan Blissful Bits

The two winners are Kate who admires Ellen DeGeneres and promises to use the Blissful Bits for something Ellen inspired and Leslie who picked cookbook author (and dog lover) Sarah Kramer. Thanks everyone for your well thought out responses, they made my day!

It is so nice to get frozen meat from a proudly vegan-owned company because they understand that we don’t want eggs, honey, duck feathers, or any other weird animal byproducts in our delicious fake meat! I also like that ecoVegan uses all natural. non-gmo ingredients and even sources vegan sugar. It is all right there, very clearly, on the label. I wish they could teach the whole rest of the world how to make clear vegan labels so I don’t have to look up really long words on my phone while I am standing in the grocery store aisle. EcoVegan has lots of products like Ocean’s Delight and Spicy Bits that are sure to add a little excitement to your regular rotation so check out their site to see where to pick them up.

If you are interested in trying the Blissful Bits meat alternative ecoVegan is kind enough to send a package to two different lucky continental US residents. All you have to do is tell me who your favorite loud and proud vegan is, they can be someone you have known for years in “real life” or that you just learned about during veganmofo or some sort of vegan superstar…. or maybe even a smurf, just kidding! No sucking up because I will pick the winner at random by 8pm CST time. And yes, you are welcome to pick more than one! Just remember to leave an email address!

Happy Mofo!

  1. Wow, those look great!

My favorite “loud and proud” vegan is Isa Chandra Moskowitz. It’s maybe a little too obvious to pick her, but she’s made veganism so approachable and uncomplicated for so many people, while still making it look cool. Plus her desserts have totally helped me win over many omnivores in my life.

  2. I’d love to try these!

My favorite loud and proud vegan is Angela from ohsheglows.com! She is an inspiration to me every day with her healthy lifestyle.

  3. My favorite loud and proud vegan is Bianca of Vegan Crunk! She has not only been my best friend for 18 years, but she has been a constant inspiration to me as someone that stands up for what she believes in! She encouraged and supported me in my transitions to vegetarianism and ultimately, veganism earlier this year. Bianca rocks!!!

  4. My latest fave is Bob Harper from Biggest Loser! I also think Alicia Silverstone is the cutest. I don’t know how loud she is, but her book speaks volumes. But Isa C.M. and Terry H.R. are loudest in my head because I’m always reading their cookbooks. Is that four answers?

  5. Okay, so Sheridan gave me love!! And even though she’s a new vegan, she’s loud and proud about it (she just launched her new blog, Vegan in Arkansas), and since she’s my favorite person in the whole world (besides my parents obviously), she’s my fave loud and proud vegan too!

  6. I’m gonna go with Bill Clinton. Never had so many people ask about my veganism, than after when Clinton’s veganism was in the news. It was like non-vegans realized we’re not all crazy!

  7. No lie, Isa Chandra Moskowitz is my favorite vegan. The cookbooks have helped reignite my passion for food without being overtly fussy and the forums on theppk.com have helped me through some very rough times in my life.

  8. My favorite vegan is my partner Rick. He is 56 years old and has been a vegan since he was 14. He figured out a lot sooner than most of us that he didn’t want to have anything to do with harming animals, ever.

  9. I have to vote for Isa Moskowitz as well. I would have never made it past that first month if it weren’t for Veganomicon, (or it would have been a sad life of *shudder* boca burgers) and she’s an absolute sweetheart aside from being insanely talented.

  10. Do I have to pick just one?
Colleen Patrick-Goudreau is constantly inspiring me to be a better person.
Isa Chandra and Terry Hope Romero have made veganism unbelievably accessible – and I’ve fallen in love with vegan baking because of them (or thanks to them ^_^)

  11. probably a tie between ellen and brendan brazier. she promotes it on her show and online while he tours, writes and sells great products (and look at that bod!).

  12. It’s hard to choose, but I’m going with Bryanna Clark Grogan. She’s been making vegan cookbooks long before cupcakes and soy curls hit the scene, and she’s still cranking out unapologetically vegan food.

  13. My favorite vegan would have to be Ellen DeGeneres. For all the love that she shows for animals and mankind and for all the times that she has made me laugh, I think she is fantastic!

  14. Obviously Gene Baur. Such a positive individual and he has done so much to help farm animals over the years.

  15. Ellen has made veganism seem friendly and approachable to her massive audience, and for that she is my favorite loud and proud vegan. Yeah, she’s not perfect (covergirl) but she makes veganism and animal rights non-threatening to her very mainstream audience and for that, I love her. Also, I found out about Field Roast on her show and that kind of changed my life!

  16. There are so many great ones to choose from. I’ll go with Tanya Petrovna of Native Foods. She may not be as out there as some of the others, but she’s slowly building an amazing vegasn empire across the nation.

  17. My favorite vegan is my partner, Dan, who instigated the change from vegetarian to vegan and has stuck by and supported me in every vegan adventure and meal I have ever made. He’s also part of what inspires me to blog about vegan food and help others!

  18. Those looks amazing! My vegan heroes are the authors Louise Hagler and Dorothy R. Bates who wrote: The New Farm Vegetarian. It is my “old school” go to cookbook.

  19. My favorite loud & proud vegans are the folks at HSUS, especially Jennifer Fearing, Paul Shapiro and Josh Balk who I am proud to call personal friends.

  20. My all time favorite loud and proud vegan is me! My favorite celebrity vegan is Jo Stepaniak, for her wonderful, informative books (The Vegan Sourcebook, Being Vegan, Uncheese Cookbook, and Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook, Vegan Vittles, the recipes in Breaking the Food Seduction, Dairy Free and Delicious, just to name a few), and her writings on VegSource. Thanks, Jo, for being such a wonderful inspiration, and providing such tasty recipes.

  21. Jess from GetSconed! virtually introduced me to so many vegan places in PDX. I’ve always enjoyed reading her blog and have found myself inspired in everything from trying new recipes to eating at new places. Thanks Jess!

  22. I think my favorite loud and proud vegan is Ellen DeGeneres. She’s a recent convert, but she even made a big website for it! http://vegan.ellen.warnerbros.com/ (on the Warner Bros domain no less). And I like that she’s doing it because it gives her more energy. If there’s anything I like, it’s an even more energetic Ellen. Oh Ellen, I love her.

So in honor of Ellen, I would like to cook something with this new fancy eco meat-substitute.

  23. Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero first of all for thePPK, and secondly for Veganomicon and Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar!

  24. I have so many favorite loud and proud vegans, but I’m going to pick the person who helped me go vegan when I met her at a circus protest a little over 3 years ago, Nikki Benoit, who is now the Vegan Outreach Coordinator in S. California. And I’m also going to pick Isa Chandra Moskowitz, not to suck up, but because it was her cookbooks that helped me learn how to cook delicious vegan foods for myself, my friends, and family. Thank You Nikki and Isa! 🙂

  25. My two favorite are both runners. The first being Scott Jurek, a fantastic ultrmarathoner. The second, slightly less known but still a personal inspiration is Pat Sweeney. He is another ultra runner and vegan blogger. I am a runner and became vegan 8 months ago after a suggestion from my 7 year old son. These two guys have helped inspire me and show me that it is possible to be an extrordinary athlete and a vegan.

  26. There are so many! I love Ellen and how she’s so outspoken about animals. I love Colleen Patrick-Goudreau and her unwavering compassion for both animals and people. And Isa, of course!

  27. Some of my favorites are Ghandi, Chandra Moskowitz, Alicia Silverstone, Emily Deschanel, Eric & Sanae, who promote vegan macrobiotic lifestyle so beautifully, Sarah Kramer of Garden of Vegan, etc. fame, my friends and Coworkers Mchael, Kai, John, Ben, Melissa, Cyd, Naomi, Camille, etc., they all have inspired me and continue to do so… 🙂

  28. Isa, for sure. I never would have gone vegan without being convinced that vegan baking was both possible and delicious. VwaV changed my life.

  29. I love th eceleb vegan loud and prouds such as Fiona Apple, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morrisette, Petra Nemcova, Leonardo Da Vinci, Cesar Chavez, Bill Clinton, Daryl Hanah, Woody Harrelson, Chrissie Hynde, Brad Pitt, The whole Pheonix family,

  30. and all the other celebs……but my favorite all time Vegan inspiration was my friend and co worker Abbey who is 20 years younger than me and taught me more than anyone I know about health and eating right and all about vegan lifestyle. I luv her for it cuz she changed my life for the better 100%. Loud and proud of Abbey! CHEERS CHEERS CHEERS!

  31. My favorite vegan is Moby. He always seems so passionate yet down to earth every time I see or read about him, and he has a great pancake recipe. 🙂

  32. Tough one. Reeeeeallllly tough, because I know so many fantastic vegans. I’m thinking that its Jessica Almy, lawyer, mom, founder of Vegbooks (and Vegan Product Guide too!). She is pretty awesome.

  33. My favorite loud and proud vegan is forever changing; at different points in my veganism, I find that there’s always one person that helps inspire me. Initially, Ellen Degeneres helped make me feel normal. Currently, I love Gina from Choosing Raw. I look up to her so much and love reading what she has to say.

  34. It’s so hard to chose just one! I guess Ellen right now for making it mainstream and supporting people during the transition.

  35. My favorite loud and proud vegan is my wife, Beth! If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t come home to a wonderful home cooked vegan meal every night!

  36. My favorite loud and proud vegan is my amazing husband. (Aww…). He is an awesome advocate and can talk with just about anybody – and is so much better than me at not getting frustrated by rampant ignorance!
