Check your emails soon!

Isa Chandra Moskowitz has pretty hair and she likes cats. She’s also part of the original enigmatic creative force behind this whole Vegan MoFo entity, and though she couldn’t do it without all of you—bloggers, readers and Post Punk Kitchen disciples—there’s a reason people such as myself identify as PPKult members (okay, not really—but some of my best friends with pretty hair hang out on the PPK forums and duh, Isa and Terry books are the best vegan cookbooks).

Today’s giveaway is courtesy of the mighty PPK, and it’s a damn good one. Two winners will receive a package of goodies that includes the brand spanking new Vegan Pie In The Sky by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero (lovingly dubbed VPITS), a PPK t-shirt, and a PPK apron to shield you from errant hunks of icing sugar, frozen berries, flour, and other inevitable suspects as you embark on some serious pie-baking.

I recipe-tested for Vegan Pie In The Sky, so I ate a lot of pie. I have always fancied myself more of a cook than a baker, but after making so many insanely delicious pies, and really never having many problems doing so (icing cupcakes is a different beast), I’m proud to say that VPITS has armed me with tons of circular desserts to impress everyone from my 94-year-old British grandma to my beer-guzzling hockey game-watching buddies to my mum’s home bible study group. Think Boston Creme Cake Pie, Pear Frangipane Tart, and my personal favourite: Pucker Up Raspberry Pie. There’s also a crazy Curried Macaroon Pie that is up there in my favourites. Pie is just special, you know? As the PPK write-up says, “Can you picture Agent Cooper from Twin Peaks waxing over a piece of angle food cake? No way. His black coffee must come saddled with a slice of honest cherry pie.”

With this PPK apron, you weirdos can pretend to be Isa’s boyfriend!

Want PPKers to recognize you on the streets? Of course you do. You’ll, of course, be able to choose your preferred size.

I twisted Isa’s arm (not really! She loves everyone!) to insist that this giveaway be open to both the US and Canada, so Canadians—you owe me one, and make me proud. To be eligible to win one of the two packages, all you have to do is comment on this post telling me your favourite recipe from the PPK blog. Even though I’m un-eligible to win, I’ll start. I am nuts for Isa’s White Wine Garlic Chanterelles. I will pick a winner at random around 9 AM PST tomorrow. Good luck!

  1. I love the Best Pumpkin Muffins! And so does everyone I make them for! I make them so often I don’t even look at the recipe anymore. That’s true love.

  2. I could eat eggplant bacon every day. But the one I’m most excited to try next is the scalloped potatoes (of course, WITH eggplant bacon)

  3. I just made the chickpea picatta the other night for dinner, and I think it’s my new favorite! Perfect yummy fall food for drizzly Washington weather. And so cheap and easy for a full-time and working college student! 🙂

  4. I loooove Isa and Terry!!! My very favorite recipe from the PPK blog is the avocado potato salad. That was the very first recipe I tried from the blog, and one that has become a classic in my kitchen.

  5. Spaghetti No’s with Lentil Meatballs, the sauce is sooooo good and the lentil meatballs got it going on as well. As a kid I used to eat Spaghetti O’s nearly everyday. This recipe those is like 1000x better and actually uses real food. Nom nom nom.

  6. The Chili Pumpkin Cranberry Risotto is perfect for this time of year and has such a yummy and interesting combination of ingredients. And it’s a great way to use up all this squash. Where does it all keep coming from?!

  7. Hands down. Scalloped potatos with eggplant bacon. You didn’t ask us to say why we like it but I’m going to. Until I was 23 the only dish I knew how to cook was scalloped potatoes. I was really good at impressing a new boyfriend… once. I slowly learned to cook more and filled my arsenal but the root of all meals were those potatoes. In my adventures in veganism I had all but forgotten about this dish. It was lost in quinoa and brussel sprouts and thought of as a marker in history with no room in the present. But PPK revived it. Once again I can sit
in front of reruns with a fork held aloft the casserole dish and refuse to share. Thank you.

  8. Yay! Thanks for making this open to Canadians as well! I want Pie In the Sky SO bad! Lately I’ve been obsessed with the pumpkin french toast and the smokey maple sausages. Both of them are delicious!

  9. Scalloped Potatoes And Eggplant Bacon!!! I have appetite for reduction and the eggplant bacon is my favorite. Pair that with potatoes and you get heaven! Thanks for an awesome giveaway!

  10. Every recipe Isa posts becomes my new favorite thing ever, but the Blackened Scrambled Tofu with Garlicky Grits has been in heavy rotation for the past month and a half… AND my omnivorous scrambled-‘fu-hating boyfriend not only loved it, but actually put in a request for it!

  11. Hmmm this is probably the hardest decision of my life! Obviously they are all my favorites, but the one that I make the most is probably the Fronch Toast

    http://www.theppk.com/2008/10/fronch-toast/.

I`m crazy for breakfast foods, and french toast was always one of my faves and this recipe is sooo delicious and can even fool carnivores 😉 I love to drizzle my homemade agave “butter” syrup all over it and top with some berries or powdered sugar or both!

  12. Ooooh! Scalloped Potatoes and Eggplant Bacon (can’t leave out the Eggplant Bacon). Trying to find good vegan options to replace old loves like scalloped potatoes has been hard. This recipe has been an uncomplicated life saver! I get tired of having to use overly processed ingredients like fake cheese to replicate the ooey gooey goodness of the creamy component of these potatoes so we love, love, love, that it uses cashew cream. It makes us all feel like we’re eating something wholesome (and truly plant based) while still indulgent. They are a must for Thanksgiving, too!

  13. PPK is one of my go-to sites when I’m looking for recipes, so it’s hard to choose just one. However, the magic of Eggplant Bacon has changed my life. My formerly eggplant-hating 7 year old informed me after I made it that it was one of her most favorite foods ever. She even requested that I pack some in her lunch the next day! Who knew such an easy recipe could conquer eggplantaphobia! I plan on incorporating this gem into many upcoming meals. 🙂

  14. The onion rings are FANTASTIC! My boyfriend and I made them together, and we both loved them. It was fun to see him in the kitchen making them with me, and a super sweet moment for both of us!

  15. Chana masala! Then again if somebody simmered up a car door in Indian spices I’d probably eat it. As long as it didn’t have a leather interior. 😀

  16. When I found the chocolate chip cookie recipe, it was life changing. I had missed those wonderful treats so much and it made going (and staying) vegan a much more pleasant experience. yum.

  17. I like the vanilla bean cupcakes with chocolate ganache, so tasty it’s wrong. And it allows me to make a point to my friends cupcakes don’t need dairy and butter to be amazing!
One I want to try making is the purple Peruvian soup. I normally just smash my purple taters! NOM!

  18. Hands down, abso-freaking-lutely, the wheatberry paella with chickpeas and leeks. This may have been the best vegan entree I’ve made yet!

  19. Snobby Joe’s! I made them for my meat-loving boyfriend and his sister and they loved them!! These are so hearty. And i serve them on onion rolls.

  20. What crazy timing! I JUST tried the pumpkin french toast recipe yesterday, and I’m not ashamed to say I ate that shit for breakfast AND dinner! I don’t know what took me so long to try it!

  21. My current favourite is Maple Pecan Pie. I made this recipe for Canadian Thanksgiving but not having any pecans in the house I used walnuts instead. Then I decided to add a cup of chocolate chips too! It was a huge hit and incredibly delicious. The peanut butter caramel apples are next to try they look awesome!

  22. The Peanut Butter Caramel Apples are calling my name big time. She just posted the recipie, but I’m going to go and try them since they look amazing.

  23. Chickpea cutlets!! I make them all the time for my onmi family with mushroom gravy and they are always a hit!

  24. DEFINITELY the Red Lentil Thai Chili. My husband and I make this constantly. I am also a HUGE fan of the chocolate chip cookie recipe! They are so classic and I know the recipe by heart.

  25. The chickpea piccata! I made it when I was studying in Italy and seriously hankering for something vegan that was actually plausible to make using the small-town market near my place. Luckily it fit the bill.

  26. I love the scrambled tofu recipe (I’d never tried it before PPK!) and also adore the oven-baked onion ring recipe on the PPK facebook page!

  27. I love the chickpea cutlets! They are fabulous with gravy made with the better than bullion vegan chicken stock, and can easily be made into little nuggets for the kidos. 🙂 We’ve fed them to my meat eating family who still think we ate chicken just for them. Lol!

  28. Oh, man. I will have to go wiiiith…. Cashew Vegetable Korma! That recipe rocks my life, I still regularly get cravings for it. It’s also cheap. And easy. No joke.

  29. So many great recipes to choose from….I would have to say Chickpea Cutlets are my favorite. They’re just SO GOOD! You can make them into little steaks/fillets, or nuggets, eat them in a sandwich….the list goes on and on. More importantly, you can smother them in mushroom gravy!!!!!

  30. Oh, definitely the Chickpea Cutlets. I make them all the time. I’ll have a freezer full for when my baby comes because I love them so much!

  31. I would love to win your cookbook and wearables. I am changing my diet and my life, with a little help from folks like you, and I love it.

  32. Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf = Oh. My. Gawd.

And, of course, any recipe in which she includes Tempeh. Isa made me LOVE Tempeh.

  33. Holy hell, how am I supposed to choooose?! I hate to pick a dessert when I peruse the main dish section more, but the apple crisp is seriously fantastic! As is everything here, so…. tough one.

  34. i made the tempeh helper recipe recently and loved it, so i’m going with that one. made it a bit too spicy for my family’s taste so i got all the leftovers, which, of course, tasted even better the next day!

  35. It’s too hard to pick a favourite, but I did make Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumb Pie about 900 times this past summer! Mmmmmmmmm!

  36. My favorite is her recipe for Mexican Hot Chocolate snickerdoodles. Dear god, they are delicious. I have wooed many a non-vegan with their power.

  37. Oh my I can’t choose just one!!!! Her pumpkin oatmeal cookies are amazing! Anything with pumpkins is delightful, they’re such happy little gourds! But then there is her Quinoa, White Bean and Kale stew that is to LIVE FOR! Oooo the choices!!!!

  38. The scrambled blackened tofu with garlicky grits. DEFINITELY! It was my first attempt to tofu scrambling with this recipe, and it was so delish, that since, i made it each week (and yesterday) since the recipe was posted! Served with roasted baby potatoes and you add some green like Isa said, i put some spinach at the cooking end and its a pleasure for my belly!

  39. Right now, all I can think about is going home and making the peanut butter caramel apples. They are my ONE weakness during the fall holidays! But to choose a favorite, right now would be anything pumpkin.

  40. Isa is always topping herself! And, I’m always falling in love with her recipes. I made her Chocolate Pumpkin loaf three times since she posted it last week. But, of all-time, I love (and have lost count) of the number of times I’ve made her Tempeh Chili Con Frijoles (http://www.theppk.com/2010/04/1379/). The original stained print-out never leaves my refrigerator door, always ready in case I feel the need for something hearty, tasty, and spicy!

  41. The PPK popped my roasted brussell sprouts cherry. Lately, I’ve been having them several times a week! Isa- they really really do smell like popcorn when roasting!

  42. So hard to choose but the Maple Pecan Pie! Made it for Thanksgiving (in Canada) and my family devoured it! Can’t wait to make it again – going to try baking a chocolate pumpkin loaf tonight which may end up being my new favourite from all the positive comments!

  43. My absolute favorite are the peanut butter chocolate pillows!!!! mmmm Just thinking about them makes my pregnancy cravings go crazy!!! <3

  44. My favorite recipe from PPK is whatever the most recent one is! That’s the most brown-nosey answer ever, but it’s true! I want prizes, but it’s still true! I made the chocolate pumpkin loaf this weekend and it was beyond delicious. Also, the root veggie chili is one of my standbys in fall and winter, though I’m not sure that’s technically a PPK recipe. If it’s not, it should be!

  45. I love love love that basil gnocchi soup recipe with swiss chard. That stuff is hearty, filling, and perfect for the upcoming cold weather season.

  46. Eggplant Potato Moussaka with Pine Nut Cream! I made eight of these bad boys for a friend’s wedding this summer, and they were an enormous hit.

  47. There are so many great ones… But, Quinoa Salad With Black Beans & Mango would have to be my pick. Gluten-free never tasted so good!!

  48. So far my favorite recipe has been the carrot cake pancakes. I make them all the time! Everything I have tried has been damn tasty, though. That chocolate-pumpkin bread is next on my list.

  49. Really, REALLY want to try the Raw Strawberry Cheesecake and those afore-metioned chanterelles sound awesome too!

  50. I must go with a simple but exquisite, foolproof recipe: peanut butter chocolate pillows! They’re ridiculously easy to make — in terms of having ingredients on-hand, the actual process of making them, and their assembly — and they taste amazing. Like virtually everything else on the PPK, it’s a wonderful foodstuff and a great form of vegan baketivist propaganda, haha. 🙂

  51. I’ve really enjoyed so much, as have my dad and fiance who I cook for all the time, but I think my absolute favorite has been the Oven Baked Onion Rings. They’re some work, so I make them as a special treat, but some nights nothing will do but portabella marinated in balsamic, olive oil, rosemary, and thyme with oven baked fries and onion rings!

  52. Whoo, this took some thought. I don’t know about favorites, but these are my most frequent go-to recipes: the Chickpeas Romesco from the Veganomicon (which I always have to make alongside the Tamarind Lentils, or it just doesn’t feel right) with the lemon macadamia cupcakes from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. Hungry now…

  53. LENTIL TACCCOOOS 😀 and every single thing i make from the website! this is such an unfair question…. but i had to pick one 😀

  54. Well besides all of them, i’m going with the peanut pretzel apple drop cookies as one of my staple items. yum yum yum!

  55. I’m a “new” vegan, as in I’ve been vegan exactly 29 days, 5 hours, & 20 minutes (well, maybe it’ll be 25 minutes by the time I get done writing this). I’m 51, so it has been a fun & challenging change! My biggest discovery is tofu scramble… I say biggest because I did not expect to love it SO much as I had a little tofu-phobia thing going on. So far I have had the “basic scramble” version & I’m looking forward to trying the fancier recipes since discovering the PPK blog– Blackened Scrambled Tofu & Garlicky Grits (I’m a Southern girl, too!) & Puttanesca Tofu Scramble are calling my name!

Thank you for putting such great info on the web & the blogosphere… I have to say that the glossy publications out there who claim they live to promote veganism fall pretty short when it comes to helping out us new vegans on the block!

  56. Oh! Usually the last one I’ve made. In this case, the pumpkin chocolate loaf I made last weekend. YUM YUM!

  57. I can’t wait to try the chocolate pumpkin loaf from the blog! But, my all time favs are chickpea cutlets and the pumpkin oatmeal cookies from VWAV. Amazing. 🙂 Can’t wait to get Pie in the Sky!

  58. Gingerbread Cut-out Cookies! I’ve made these twice over the past month. I used most of the cookies as a base for a pumpkin maple pie, and it was soooo delicious. The leftover cookies were eaten by me, my vegan daughter, my non-vegan mom, and my non-vegan brother. They all love these cookies! 🙂

  59. I just made the chocolate pumpkin loaf.
Moist, chocolatey with the fall spices.
The taste cannot be described and is loved by everybody

  60. Definitely the smoky maple sausages! They are to die for! I love most variations on Isa’s sausages, but these are by far my fav!

  61. Oh, that’s easy! Tempeh con Frijoles! Easy to make, hard to screw up, and I have won a chili cookoff with it!

  62. OMG Oven Baked Onion Rings because it made an onion ring lover out of me and I can feel okay about feeding them to my family. Carnists enjoy them too. Win-win-win!

  63. I kinda live for this time of the year and any excuse to make my whole apartment smell like pumpkin is just fine by me. My favorite recipe from PPK is the Best Pumpkin Muffins, they are always gone in half a second and my apartment smells lovely.

  64. I’m a big fan of the chana masala, and I can’t wait for my copy of Pie in the Sky to arrive in the mail tomorrow. Amazon pre-orders are awesome.

  65. My favorite recipe is the Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf! I made it a couple days ago and it was scrumptious! Perfect for the season! Yummy! I have ALL of your cookbooks and I love PPK!

  66. Being a native to Minnesota, and seeing that it’s Fall, anything pumpkin is high on the list. My all time go to favorite when it comes to pumpkin breakfasts, however, is without a doubt the Pumpkin Waffles. They’re always a huge hit!

  67. The chickpea cutlets are SO good, SO satisfying (especially with onion-mushroom gravy), it is really hard for me to express. They make wonderful next day lunches, too!

  68. Garlicky Thyme Tempeh! (preferably if served with Caulipots, Silky Chickpea Gravy, and mebbe some steamed green beans for good measure!)

Omg, I’m so dang hungry now!

  69. Chocolate pumpkin loaf! Had to run into the kitchen and make it! Also, love the cookie jar mix – my son is newly vegan and a college freshman. I’m can’t wait to give him a jar of the cookie mix – he’ll be able to make homemade vegan cookies easily even when he’s not living at home (well, he doesn’t make them at home – I make them for him). Thanks for the recipes!

  70. Toss up between spaghetti no’s and chickpea cutlets….but the winner is definitely chickpea cutlets. So yummy, so quick…a go-to staple in our house. And bonus, the 3 year old approves!

  71. Pumpkin oatmeal cookies! There was a period where I was making them weekly. And adding butterscotch chips. Or sandwiching chai buttercream between them. They really are the greatest cookies ever.

  72. What a great prize! It is so hard to pick a favorite, but I have to go with Chickpea Piccata. So easy, so good!

  73. You want me to choose?? Srsly?? Okay, I’m going chickpea cutlet (picatta style)…. We also get down with olive lentil burgers quite frequently.

  74. This is a tough choice, as the site has been one of my go to sources when my mind starts wandering towards dinner. I’ll go with the wheatberry paella, as I’ve made it multiple times and it’s always tasty and satisfying.

  75. I can only pick one favorite? Just this weekend I made the spinach and roasted cauliflower ricotta lasagna, red thai tofu, thai basil green beans, hoisin/mustard tofu wraps, unfried fried rice, and orange drenched broccoli! And I’m making my version of the cowgirl cookies (at least that’s what I call them, are they cowpoke cookies maybe? I dunno) from VCIYCJ and some Isa pizza tonight! I’m fairly certain I would die without Isa’s cookbooks.

  76. The Apple Pie Pancakes, a delicious breaky treat, won most favourite with my twin nieces. The Scalloped Potatoes with eggplant bacon, which I’m excited to make this week, will surely be a huge hit with my husband. My favourite, however, is the Pear Frangipane Tart…with shortbread crust! (Thanks for including us Canadians!)

  77. Mine is the ‘ol standby Chickpea Cutlets. So good that even meateaters ask for seconds. So delicious with steamed green beans and mashed sweet potatoes. Hmmm… I think I will make it this week! 🙂

  78. I’m gonna whip up the Pesto Soup with Gnocchi Beans and Greens tonight.
I don’t do bad baking, but I’m not much of a cook – so wish me luck that the smoke alarm doesn’t become my buddy! Again!

  79. My favorite are the Punk Rock Cookie Jar mixes! I LOVE cookies, these make WONDERFUL gifts! ( and show non-vegans that we can also rock some cookies! )

  80. Butternut Rancheros! Forever changed how I think about squash. Will stop myself from listing all the other recipes that I love from that site….

  81. The Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles are amazing! When I first made them, my son gobbled up three in a row. He’s 4 years old. Thank for the giveaway.

  82. I’m gonna whip up the Pesto Soup with Gnocchi, Beans and Greens tonight.

I’m not a bad baker, but not so good of a cook (I keep being distracted by cool contests like win something from PPK – which I hope, I hope, I hope I do!!!). So, wish me luck and hope that the smoke alarm does not try to become my buddy. Again.

  83. Hard to pick just one, but I’ll follow the rules and go with the chocolate chip cookies! I can think of no better recipe to dispel the myth that vegans are somehow deprived of deliciousness.

  84. The Chana Masala was great. I tried it a few weeks ago and served it with brown rice and store-bought roti.

As for my favourite, make this over and over again recipe: Chickpea cutlets. When I have friends coming over and I know they’re nervous about vegan food or they assume I’m just going to feed them tofu, I break out the chickpea cutlets and serve ’em up with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted veggies and buckets of mushroom and onion gravy.

Next, I’m eager to try the Mushroom Hot Pot.

  85. Mine is the Black bean & Quinoa with Chipotle Raspberry sauce. A variety of my fave ingredients packed into one delicious concoction. Blackbeans + Quinoa + Spicy + Raspberries = Awesome!!

  86. I am constantly referring to ppk for recipes or general recipe guidelines when I’m cooking. My go to ppk recipe is, I believe, not on the blog anymore but I know it by heart. I love love love the tofu ricotta. Whether I’m making a lasagna or stuffed shells its always so delicious.

  87. What a generous giveaway! The best recipe I’ve tried thus far is the PPK’s Sanctuary Dip. Traditional ranch dressing has been such a task to replace, but this recipe has gotten me pretty close.

  88. I love all things Isa Chandra! I have a major foodie crush on her!
My absolute favorite PPK recipe is the latkes, although the VWAV autumn root vegetable latkes are even better.
I would love to add the pie book to my collection of awesome Isa Chandra Terry Hope delicious cookbooks!
Thanks for running this contest 🙂

  89. The Best Pumpkin Muffins are fabulous! And yesterday I made Isa’s Triple Apple Cider Bundt Cake. It may have been the best cake I have ever made!!!

  90. I must admit, I cook almost exclusively from Isa and/or Terry’s cookbooks. They’re all fantastic! I’m hoping VPITS will help me get over my issues with pie crust and finally, finally I will emerge triumphant with Actual Pie, rather than facing a tough lump of dough beneath a sodden mess of fruit …

  91. Maybe a boring choice, but I love the Doublebatch Chickpea Cutlets recipe. Twice the cutlets and actually less work than the original- since I don’t have to worry about grating garlic and lemon zest.

  92. It’s so hard to pick one, but since I’m eating it right now and it’s sooo good I’ll go with chana masala!

  93. I became a vegan about a month ago, and I can’t remember how long it has been since I’ve felt this good! Isa has become my hero! I am eating my way through Veganomicon one recipe at a time. I’m loving all the apple and pumpkin recipes right now, and those caramel apples look like they’re the bomb!

  94. Spaghetti Nos with mini lentil meatballs all the way!!! Such a great blast-from-the-past recipe and tons of fun to make!

  95. Wow–picking a favorite is really hard! I make something from the cupcake cookbook weekly. One of my faves from the blog was berry creme tart with cocoa olive oil crust. As always, both imaginative and super good.

  96. Definitely Rad Whip. Never again will I have to choose between overpriced soy/rice whip and naked pumpkin pie. 🙂

  97. Snobby Joes are withoutadoubt the best recipe I’ve found on the PPK. I made them at a Chili Party a month ago. It was used in sandwiches, on chips, with guac, and even got dunked in by an egg roll.

  98. The Eggplant Bacon has make a nice addition to a lot of dishes I’ve made! It’s one of my favorite recipes I’ve found here.

  99. I love the vanilla bean cupcakes with chocolate ganache!!! I used the ganache on some mini cupcakes I brought to a house warming party. All my non-veg friends loved them.

  100. I am a coffee junkie and have to have some sort of baked good to accompany the nectar of the gods. And since it’s Fall, I’m going to say Isa’s Chocolate Pumkin Loaf is my favorite.

  101. Love the green bean casserole. Initially I made it as a holiday dish but love it so much I make it year round. Easy and very tasty.

  102. Rad Whip is pretty much my favourite thing ever. it’s beautifully versatile — from pumpkin pie topping, to a classy (& tasty splash in creamy soups), to the delicious challenge to overcome in consuming a vegan-dyke muff diver.

  103. I am super excited for the Peanut Butter-Caramel Apples that you just posted. I’ve been totally loving apples this season and this sounds fabulous! I can’t wait to make them this weekend! 😀

  104. I love love love the cashew korma recipe!!! Vegan Pie in the Sky is the next cookbook on my list and so would love it if I won it!!

  105. Oh my gosh, so many to chose from. I make a double batch of chickpea cutlets every single week and we eat them at least once for dinner and in sandwiches all week. So that’s probably the one. Although I also love the chocolate pumpkin loaf she just posted. I made it yesterday to rave reviews. Thanks

  106. Proud to be Canadian. Love the pumpkin muffins. I have been vegan now for 3 months and would love to pie up my kitchen. Love Isa’s cookbooks.

  107. My Favorite is Snobby Joes. They go to every pot luck and vegan food tasting. I love them! They are always a big hit.

  108. I am crazy about the Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf posted a few days ago….and a whole potluck full of people was too!

  109. Maple PECAN PIE for this vegan Canadian Mofo. I live in maple syrup Capital and I would eat this any time of day. Possibly for my birthday which is just around the corner. VEGAN MOFO and Isa forever!

  110. chickpea cutlets!!! the basic chocolate cupcake and vegan buttercream frosting from vctotw are also staples in our home for birthdays. i take 2 dozen with us whenever we take our 3 year old to a birthday party, so she always has a treat to eat with the non-vegans, and inevitably they all get eaten and people ‘can’t believe’ they are vegan. i love busting the myth that vegan food doesn’t taste good. can’t wait to make some PIE!!!!

  111. I love the Sunny Cornbread Muffins!!!! The lemon zest gives these muffins the perfect lemony kick! I also have been adding blueberries to these lovely treats! Sooooo Gooood! I made them low fat with applesauce instead of oil and they were to die for! I make them at least every two weeks!

  112. Although I’ve been a long-time fan of the PPK, my favorite recipe is a new-ish one: the strawberry rhubarb crumb pie. When strawberries and rhubarb were in peak season this summer (on the East Coast of Canada!), I actually went a week where I made this pie every. single. day. Every day. To me, it is the perfect.

  113. This is an incredibly difficult question because I have loved every single PPK-related recipe I have ever tried! Isa and Terry are vegan sorceresses. I am going to vote the pumpkin chocolate loaf because I am going to try it this weekend.

  114. love, Love, LOve, LOVe, LOVE Isa’s Mocha Chocolate Chip Muffins, though really I love ALL her cooking! Sooooo happy to have AFR and Veganomicon and Vegan With A Vengeance in my kitchen arsenal!

  115. Every recipe that I’ve made from their books and website hasn’t failed me. However, I’m going to have to go with one that I make every year around this time: Okra Gumbo!

  116. Gosh, so hard to choose!
I guess I would have to say the Creamy Swiss Chard Linguine for savory dish and the magical coconut bars for dessert…yummmz

  117. Best giveaway ever!!

I don’t know for sure if this is on the site, but the Gingerbread Apple Pie from Vegan with a Vengeance is my thanksgiving tradition. So delicious!

  118. Seriously. The BEST Pumpkin Muffins ever. This is the perfect season, but I make them year-round and they are always a hit. That said, I have had nothing but delicious success and oodles of yums with all of Isa’s recipes. PPK Rocks.

  119. Oooh! I pick the first PPK recipe I ever made, which was also my
introduction to PPK and delicious vegan foods! Potato kale enchiladas!
With the amazing made from scratch enchilada sauce! Best.

  120. I have never tried a recipe of Isa’s that I didn’t like!!! She is my punk-rock idol…I even had the opportunity to meet her one year at the Boston veg fest a few years back and completely wimped out because I am in such awe ;0p (needless to say my companions make fun of me to this day).
    anywhoo
I made the eggplant bacon and potato recipe that she recently posted and it’s like crack for your mouth…not that I know anything about crack…but I do know a lot about food…just look at my thighs…tee hee!!!

  121. I love them all! But since I had to pick one to enter this contest, I asked my boys. They are 5 and 3, and quickly answered “chocolate cake!”. Because, as my eldest says, “we are vegan, so we can lick the bowl!” So there you have it, can’t argue with that!

  122. I feel like Isa & Terry are my best buds in the kitchen. They have pretty much the only recipes I’ll make for company without testing them first, because I just trust that they’ll be good and make sense, etc! I compare all other cookbooks to theirs and then point out the flaws in the others.

Anyway, my fav recipe that’s on the site is the Seitan Portabello Stroganoff http://www.theppk.com/2008/10/1010/ Omnis ask me for the recipe whenever I make it. SO GOOD!!

  123. I love the recipes on the PPK! Honestly though what kid doesn’t love graham crackers and the recipe on the PPK is great! My daughter has had food allergies all her life and became veg when she was 11. I’ve been veg for years, but trying to find great vegan recipes to please young children is hard, but the PPK rocks it!

  124. Picking one recipe is so hard. If I have to narrow it down to posted on the blog the first one that comes to mind is the pumpkin muffins. I have fed them to tons of kids and parents with much success. We love your recipes.

  125. Gotta be the classic chocolate chip cookie recipe… I make those puppies on a weekly basis (and eat most of the batter before if gets into the oven).

  126. Break my heart here – I have to chose one recipe from the PPK collection? Rules – made to be broken. My favorite is between the Tempeh sausage crumbles, which I have been known to shape into sausage patties and freeze for a quick sammich treat, and the Chesapeake Tempeh Cakes.
Seriously, these two recipes were my Tempeh cooking introductions, and made a believer out of me. Thank you for the giveaways.

  127. My favorite PPK post has to be the pumpkin pie brownies – it was my first foray into vegan baking! I brought it into work last year, didn’t tell anyone it was vegan, and it was a huge hit. When I told them it was dairy- and egg-free, they were so impressed!! Haven’t turned back since.

  128. I would die to win this being a huge Isa fan:) I can only pick one favorite? Sheesh, I can’t! It would have to be between Pumpkin Pie Brownies and Red Lentil Thai Chili. I love too many too pick just one! That’s a dessert and a entree for ya:P Please pick me, I love vegan mo-fo and ppk, so keep rockin!

  129. Has to be the Cashew Korma. In fact, I just made it last week for the second time. It’s pretty easy considering the result is a HUGE pot of mind-blowing korma. I’ve eaten some for lunch or dinner almost every day since, and still have a HUGE pot of mind-blowing korma. Kudos, Isa! <3

  130. VERY hard to choose, but I would say Chickpea Piccata for the main course and Peanut Butter Blondies for dessert. AMAZING.

  131. Pasta Della California rocks! It was my first recipe to make out of VCON too! Plus, it’s fun to sing along to the Dead Kennedy’s and insert the recipe title…

  132. I love the pumpkin chocolate loaf…I’m waiting for my grocery to re-stock pumpkin so I can make this again.

  133. As much as I love so many of the PPK recipes, for creativity and yumminess, I think the one I have to pick is the basic Homemade Seitan, because you can’t live without it.

  134. Wowzers – 385 comments already?!? Vegans really want some PPK swag!
Well, it’s gotta be Isa’s Seitan & Broccoli With Pantry BBQ Sauce – that combo has scored me some major, major points. If I get lucky and win, I’ll tell ya what they were.

  135. One? We have to pick ONE? If I must. I’ll go with Tempeh Helper b/c it is one of my quick I don’t know what to make for dinner meals.

  136. The ‘Garlicky Thyme Tempeh’ is great. And, I have to add the ‘Old Fashioned Chocolate Pudding Pie’. So great to have a creamy pie without tofu as the main ingredient!!

  137. I can’t play favourites, so I’ll say a recent hit around these parts was the Okra Gumbo. Delish! Thanks, PPK pals! Pie for all. xo

  138. It’s impossible to pick a favorite, so I’ll go with the last thing that I made from the PPK. The Lemongras Noodle Bowl with Mock Duck. Yummy!

  139. The very first seitan recipe I tried was the one on the PPK, and it’s still my favorite, all these years later.

  140. Okay I admit it – I was not familiar with the PPK blog until your post! But I have had Vegan Pie in the Sky on my Amazon wish list for months now. So I just went on PPK and I’m in love! I want to make it all. But right now nothing sounds better than the Mushroom Hot Pot. Oh what I wouldn’t give for a nice bowl right now…

  141. My favorite thing in the whole world are the Peanut Butter Chocolate Pillows. They are incredible!!!! I hope I win this giveaway. It’s one of the best giveaways I’ve seen in ages. Thanks so much! – Allison

  142. The Orange Ginger Baked Tofu with some whole baby bella shrooms added in! Wish I had some of that right now as a matter of fact.

  143. Spaghetti-nos. Been craving healthy vegan spaghettios for years and now Isa’s gone and created a recipe for it that feels like cheating, but it’s not; it’s just too ingenious for words.

  144. So much goodness to choose from, but I most recently made and throroughly enjoyed the Orange Ginger Baked Tofu… it really is the perfect thing to quell my Chinese take-out (of which there is none of the edible variety where I live) cravings. SO GOOD!

  145. My favorite recipe from the PPK Blog is the Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf! Although I haven’t made it yet, I know I am going to love it!

  146. Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles! Although it’s hard to pick just one. Isa’s recipes are always so good, I suspect she has secret magic powers.

  147. Although I must admit those peanut butter caramel apples have me salivating, my favorite recipe is the best pumpkin muffins ever!!!!! They’re so moist, I make them for my office a couple of times a year- on demand!

  148. Well considering that I just made and loved the Okra Gumbo With Chickpeas & Kidney Beans, I’ll vote for that at the moment! But everyone is right, there are just too many great ones to choose from (and considering I usually consider my favorite food to be “cookies,” I might also have to choose the mexican hot chocolate snickerdoodles)… 🙂

  149. Oh, I so wanna win this! For my favorite blog recipe, I’m gonna say the cucumber avocado tea sandwiches with mint. My grandmother loves cucumber-mayo tea sandwiches, and I now have a vegan version to eat! (and think of her. <3 you, Grandma!)

  150. The peanut butter chocolate pillows!
I make them for almost every get together and everyone always looks forward to them. 🙂

  151. I haven’t made it yet, but I’m really wanting to try the Spaghetti-Nos with Mini Lentil Meatballs. Brings back my childhood.

  152. Do I really have to limit myself to just one??? The chocolate pumpkin loaf that she just put up is a new favorite, but I LOVE that broccoli stirfry with cashews that she posted when she talked about using the cast iron skillet… YUM! So many good recipes. My husband made a fantastic curry from her website once, too. My birthday is coming up, so maybe I’ll request him to do that again… 🙂

  153. It is definitely too hard to choose one, but I’m going to say the Triple Apple Cider Bundt Cake because I still have some sitting on my counter 🙂

  154. I’m so obsessed with PPK, I can never remember which recipes are from the books are which ones are only on the blog, but I know that the new chocolate pumpkin loaf that just came out is only on the blog. SO GOOD. Defo new favorite.

  155. I love the tofu scramble, it is a family favorite. I usually make a make four to five blocks of tofu scrambled at a time

  156. Mac & Shews! It was like revisiting my delicious macaroni filled childhood without the unfortunate bowl haircut and banana-seated bicycle.

  157. It’s a tough call for me between the Pear Frangipane Tart (I absolutely love pear deserts) and the Mushroom Hot Pot. Soups have been sounding really good with the cool fall weather, so I’d say the Mushroom Hot Pot is winning at the moment.

  158. From the time VWAV first hit the bookstores, my favorite has been the Pumpkin Waffles. I double the recipe and freeze for future pure comfort food in the morning. I like to top with fresh berries. The house smells wonderful for hours afterward. Never met anyone that did not like them. Recipe is on the blog.

  159. Definitely, the double-batch chickpea cutlets, served with the lemony herbed potatoes from Veganomicon. My husband is a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy yet he insists that I make this meal (with leftovers) once a week. Victory!

  160. I usually combine the chickpea cutlets with the picatta sauce from chickpea picatta all over mashed potatoes! Maybe i’ll make some right now!

  161. I have yet to make an Isa recipe that wasn’t fantastic. Favourites include Mac ‘n ‘Shews and Tempeh Helper but my all time favourite is Spaghetti No’s with Mini Lentil Meatballs. Isa rocks!!!!!

  162. I have just seen the photo of the peanut butter caramel apples and I KNOW without even making them yet that they will be my favourites…

  163. Scrambled Tofu Revisited-I’m a brand new vegan and this is so easy and yummy. I have everyone, even the omnivorous faction, eating it!

  164. The basic Scrambled Tofu because even my omni husband asks for it, and it is a great foundation recipe to use up the produce you have on hand!

  165. well, it’s from the veganomicon cookbook, but the chewy chocolate raspberry cookies! they are super easy to make, and we’ve made at least 10 different varieties. they’re my cookie jar go to filler.

  166. My whole family loves the peanut butter caramel apples! We are having them with popcorn and apple cider for our Halloween party.

  167. Wow, what a great give away!

There’s not a whole lot I DON’T love over at the PPK, but I have to say, making the tofu omelets on my days off is one of the things I most look forward to. So delicious!

  168. I definitely have to go with the scrambled tofu. I never make it for breakfast, but for dinner when my hubby, not a veg in any way, is away on business. This recipe is so versatile – love it!!

  169. So many to choose from — how can I pick a favourite? I’ll just choose the last one I made: Peanut Butter Chocolate Pillows. Every time I make these, I’m astonished by how good they are. Dark-chocolate-peanut-butter-bliss!

  170. Isa’s Fronch Toast is tantalizing & simple <3 luv luv it w/ some Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter spread on top! Tried some other recipes that turn out soggy but this 1 always turns out perfect probably why I make it again and again.
    http://bit.ly/dGQVyz

  171. I loved the “Pesto Soup with Gnocchi, Beans & Greens”. My girl friend and I made it together and couldn’t stop eating! Our non-vegan friend also nommed the soup and raved! Love you Isa!

  172. Well, since I can’t find my copy of Vegan with a Vengeance, I’ve been relying heavily on Fronch Toast. But I want to make everyone else’s favorites now!

  173. I am ever so excited for this cookbook to come out! Ever since Pushing Daisies I’ve been fascinated by the simple, delicious, beauty that is a finely made pie. Anyways, I’ve tried many PPK recipes but the one I go back to again and again is the “Just Chocolate Cake”. Thanks for everything Isa and PPK, keep up the great work!

  174. Pumpkin Muffins. There is a story behind it when I moved couldn’t find my Vegan with a Vengeance I was freaking out I knew the recipe by heart but too tired to think…looked online…ahhh happiness, Yes so many fantastic recipes but these….can’t beat them!

  175. I haven’t tried them yet, but I know the caramel apples will be my favorite. One of the things I’ve missed the most!

  176. Tie between Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles (which I made two days ago) and Super Moist Pumpkin Bread (which is beyond delicious!). Almost everything I have tried from PPK has turned out great. I see that you posted a new recipe for Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf… I know what I will be making tomorrow.

  177. I’ve baked the heck outta those Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles. They’ve been a big hit at the charity bake sale we put together every year, and they’ll be back again in force for this year’s sale!

  178. hoo boy, this is a toughie. i’d have to go with the pumpkin oatmeal cookies. they’re my go-to recipe for any special shindig! soft, chewy, and pumpkiny…how could you go wrong with that?

  179. I’m currently in love with the chocolate pumpkin loaf, but I’m sure my favorite will change next week. I just saw the vegan omelet recipe, and I’m bout to hit that.

  180. I love everything! Honestly! Some favorites have been the butternut squash rancheros and pumpkin oatmeal cookies! I just made the vegan pumpkin waffles this weekend for brunch for the new dude 😉 Isa, you are so amazing! I always make your stuff for friends…but always credit you 😀 I would like to think I can make a vegan believer out of them…with your help, of course! 😉

  181. Matrioshka eggnog–anything that sneaks in avocados is obviously awesome, and last winter the people I served it to were blown away by its deliciousness. Of course the glasses are just too cute. I now own 2 sets of them ( 2 separate friends bought me the same set of glasses for my birthday!)

  182. Vegan Pecan Pie!
I am such a pie fanatic and when I lived in Asheville, I fell in LOVE with the Vegan Southern Food there, but also, with all the great pies there (that were not Vegan). My fav pie is Pecan Pie, I cannot get enough of it, so when I saw this recipe on the PPK website, I dedicated an entire weekend to mastering it. It was not only the best vegan pie I have ever had, but it was the best pean pie I ever had. Can’t wait to make more Vegan pies!

  183. It might be lame but I love the chocolate chip cookies, and the raspberry choc chip bars (are they posted here??) — I haven’t been able to cook for a while, but I love everything of hers I try! So excited about the pie cookbook!

  184. THIS IS MY DREAM PRIZE.
I am an Isa fangirl all the way!!!
I have so many favorites on the PPK site (and in all the books!), but the one I made most recently that just rocks my socks is the Black Beans and Quinoa with Chipotle Raspberry Sauce. holy moly.

  185. What a super rad giveaway!! My favorite recipe on the PPK blog is Isa’s Spaghetti-Nos with Mini Lentil Meatballs – fun and delicious!!

  186. The chocolate chip cookies are great! Can’t wait to try the caramel apples that were just posted tho. My son has been asking to make them so perfect timing! Isa is my favorite cookbook author!!

  187. PPK Chana Masala. I make it while humming a happy tune. I eat each bite in slow, luxurious reminiscent of an old Herbal Essence commercial. This even happens with the leftovers. I dream about making more of it. I lament once the last of it is gone. Then I put more chickpeas on to soak, and the circle of PPK Chana Masala continues…

One of many recipes that have me being a solid Isa fan.

  188. I love love love the herbed whole wheat drop biscuits. I made them last Thanksgiving and they were a huge hit. Definitely on the menu again this year!

  189. So hard to choose! I have to go with Fronch Toast, because it impressed my family who were suspicious of vegan french toast. With a little cinnamon and vanilla added it was as huge hit.

  190. My favorite recipe on the Post Punk Kitchen website is the Pumpkin Pie Brownie! They are delicious every time I make them.

  191. Love, love, love the Oatmeal Peanut butter cookies – I tell myself they’re really, really good for me so that I can just keep eating them 🙂

  192. So glad I caught this (I am totally not supposed to be doing homework) I love pie!
Favourite PPK recipe? That’s hard but I guess I’ll have to go with either the maple pecan pie or the olive lentil burgers. Probably the burgers, I REALLY like olives…

  193. I love the ppk! I think there are way too many recipes to choose from. Some of the highlights are chickpea piccatta and the triple apple bunt cake. I need this book as i am currently terrrible at makubg pie.

  194. So far, my favorite recipe that I’ve actually made is the Chickpea Cutlets. That being said, there are plenty of PPK recipes that I can’t wait to test out! The Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf and Peanut Butter Caramel Apples are at the top of my list!

  195. It’s very, very difficult for me to pick just one, but I think I’m going to go with the Swiss Chard Frittata. I have impressed a number of non-vegans with this recipe, and it’s a personal favorite of mine.

  196. I don’t even know how to choose my favorite recipe from the PPK blog! I loved the recently posted Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf (in cupcake/muffin form). My first recipe was the Portland Porch Lettuce Wraps, and really got me addicted to the PPK. I also adore (and have made several times) the Olive Lentil Burgers and the Black Beans and Quinoa with Chipotle Raspberry Sauce. Everything is so yummy and convinced me to take the leap from vegetarianism to veganism.

  197. Pick one? I can’t even pick just one of her books. Um, I think the one I make most is the Chewy Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookies but I think that Chocolate Pumpkin loaf may come in a close second or maybe the Pear Frangipanne Tart or the… I tell you NOT FAIR!!!

  198. My favorite recipe from the PPK blog is probably the Chocolate Chip Cookies, though there are tons of other recipes I love. Thanks for doing such a great giveaway!

  199. Me please! I would love to win! Of course – I already have Vegan Pie in the Sky, but it would make an excellent Xmas gift!

  200. My fav PPK recipe is Garlicky Thyme Tempeh..I tuck it into my sandwiches all da thyme. And I just haven’t had a fulfilling month without baking a batch of the best ever Oatmeal Peanutbutter Cookies.

  201. Uff-da…so hard to choose….but I’m going to go with the Brown Sugar Peach Muffins!! So delish!! 🙂

  202. My favorite recipe from the blog is the peanut butter chocolate pillows. I also JUST made the pumpkin chocolate loaf. Came outta the oven an hour ago!

  203. I LOVE Caribbean Curry Black Eye Peas with Plantains. They are so good I can eat the whole pot. I was raised with Pierogies so I definetly want to try Potato Pierogi with Carmalized Onion. I just recently bought a Pierogi maker. Its a tool to help form the Pierogi once you make the dough. I found I was not very good at rolling dough so I will have to practice. I had made fried cabbage pierogis and they were yum!!

  204. I can’t wait to try the caramel apples, but my favorite is the Green tea cupcakes. I used to work in a tea shop and everyone RAVED!!!

  205. oh, i hope this one is on the website as well as in veganomicon- the lower fat banana bread– recently served to part of the ohio state band (a big deal!)!

  206. I LOVE PPK recipes!!! The Peanut Butter Chocolate Pillows from Vegan Cookies Take Over the World are SOOO good and I’m itching to try the PB Caramel Apples they just posted as well as the Fruit Hand Pies from the new Vegan Pie cookbook!

  207. Lemon bars! No wait…peanut butter chocolate pillows! No wait…coconut lime cupcakes! And then there’s the simple seitan-making method that saved my life…

  208. Spaghetti-Nos with lentil meatballs are amazing!! I was eating the sauce directly out of the tupperware and my carnivorous friends loved the lentil meatballs.

  209. The Chana Masala is easily my favorite although it is nowhere close to easy to pick only one of these recipes. I’m a sucker for Indian food and love that she has spent so much time honing the flavors of this recipe herself. It turns out amazingly!

  210. I’ve wanted to try the eggnog posted on the ppk blog for the last year! I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but maybe this year. And it would be perfect with a slice of pie!

  211. Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles again and again.
The most winningest cookie ever! So many fans of these cookies when I bake them. The first time I made them with some older cayenne, they weren’t too bad on the heat scale, but then I made them another time with some freshly ground cayenne and it was almost over for everyone who sampled them. We rebounded from the occasion and whipped up another batch.

  212. a classic – Scrambled Tofu! that, plus herbed whole wheat biscuits and smoked almond gravy from Vegan Brunch make a great breakfast!

  213. Hands down the Pumpkin Muffins. I have made them for years and everybody loves them. Even my deep South, Mississippi family who swear that you can’t “really bake” without milk, butter, and eggs. Isa’s pumpkin muffins made them rethink their entire culinary lives.

    -Hannah

  214. Ok this is really hard, because she has so many yummy ones! My all time favorite though is the chickpea cutlets and 2nd is the pumpkin pie brownies. That new chocolate pumpkin loaf looks like a winner to me too! Thanks for offering the prizes 🙂

  215. Without a doubt, the OMG Oven Baked Onion Rings. This was the recipe that convinced me to buy “Appetite for Reduction” (and thanks for showing the love to us Canadians!).

  216. My absolute favorite recipe on the PPK is the ‘Quinoa, White Bean and Kale Stew,’ which can also be found in “Appetite for Reduction.” It is SO GOOD served with a warm piece of homemade bread with Earth Balance on a chilly fall day! YUM!!!!!

    Thank you for the giveaway!!!!!

  217. I really enjoy the snobby joes. It’s the best “sloppy joe” substitute I’ve had and I have to admit I wasn’t a big fan of lentils before this recipe.

  218. Broccoli Curry Udon was my first and favorite recipe I made from your site! Even just typing it now, my mouth is drooling remembering some of my favorite flavours coming together in one pot!

  219. It’s a delicious 3-way tie between the Baked Onion Rings, the Chocolate Pumpkin loaf and (does this count? It’s in Appetite for Reduction) the spinach lasagna. oh boy! xo susie

  220. “THE TOFU SCRAMBLE” I’ve tried many scrambles but this one is clearly the winner. Now I need to make some yummy pie to go along with it (hint, hint)

  221. It’s 8:25…hope I’m not too late to comment. I don’t have a favorite recipe yet…I’m quite amazed at what people have been able to do during the work week–not only amazing dishes (like the spinach pancakes featured here), but amazing photography as well. Feeling like a slacker…

  222. I tried https://greenrevolutioncbd.com/cbd-products/cbd-gummies/ as a service to the from the word go heyday pattern week, and I’m genuinely surprised by the results. I’ve struggled with eagerness and incidental sleeplessness, and CBD seemed to provide a subtle, yet noticeable, quickness of stillness and relaxation. There was no ‘high,’ impartial a undisturbed easing of my anxiety symptoms and a more sedative unceasingly’s sleep. It tasted a fraction crude, but that’s a little trade-off as a replacement for instinct more at peace. I’m looking forth to seeing how it helps in the prolonged run.
