Upton’s t-shirt giveaway!

Upton’s t-shirt giveaway!

And our soon to be much more stylish winners are:

Benjamin, “This southern boy misses his biscuits and gravy, so the Italian style sounds perfect to me!”
Ricky Blue, “I live in Chicago so I get the wraps for lunch at one of the Lakeview Whole Foods locations at least once a week. I love those wraps. I wish they had them everywhere.”
Candace, with this epic tale, “::Setting the scene:: I was broke, I was young and a new vegetarian. What a set up for disaster. I wasn’t eating properly and didn’t know how to get a balanced meal with the foods I was supplied with. I started trying every meat substitute known to man in order to try and curve my cravings for something substantial…morningstar this.. gardein that… With many successes and failures I started getting staple ingredients to begin creating a normal eating routine and getting the adequate nutritions a vegetarian needs. I was out shopping getting my normal fresh produce, already being stocked up on frozen meat substitutes, when this little 1920’s man with a lovely mustache was staring at me. “No Candace, you don’t need anymore food,” I told myself. “But..look at that packaging..is it recycled material?” My can’t-stop-won’t-stop-$11.71-account-balance self counteracted. The yellow label of the ground-beef style seitan accenting the delicious contents inside were inviting. As I stood in the aisle handling the package reading all the labels, all the ingredients, I saw my hand slowly lowering into my tiny basket filled with greens. The rest is history…”

I will email you all right now!

Upton’s Naturals has two things that make it a unique and awesome vegan company:

1. They have the coolest packaging/gimmick. Who doesn’t love mustaches?

2. They make pre-packaged seitan that is DELICIOUS.

The first time my husband spotted Upton’s in the health food store, he stopped and got really excited about seitan chorizo (and mustache packaging). Now, if you’ve tried pre-packaged seitan before you can understand why my response was, “Ugh, I can MAKE that.” Brian’s reply was narrow eyes and package clutching until I agreed that he could try it. It was love at first bite! Not only is the chorizo really good, but I quickly realized that we had finally found a replacement for Morningstar crumbles (no longer vegan) for taco nights. Now, if we don’t have some kind of Upton’s in the fridge, Brian gets cranky. We also really like the italian style for biscuits and gravy.

Not only is Upton’s tasty, but they don’t use a ton of weird ingredients, it’s just straight up seitan with spices, like you would make at home. But conveniently flavored and ground for you!

Upton’s doesn’t have free product coupons yet, so they offered to clothe three vegans with their awesome t-shirts, featuring the Upton’s logo! They are unisex Gildan shirts, sizing chart here. You pick the size so don’t worry about getting stuck with a shirt that is 18 sizes too big or small!

To enter to win, comment here and tell us which Upton’s product you like to use and for what, if you haven’t tried their products tell us what you would if you could. US only, I will pick three random winners on Friday morning.

  1. Oh, I could definitely rock that sexy shirt! I just started eating vegan lately and would love to incorporate more great products like Upton’s Naturals into my cooking! The biscuits and gravy sounds delicious and w/o meat would be perfect for me!!!! 🙂

  2. LOVE me some Upton’s! I just made some potato/chorizo/kale enchiladas with salsa verde using the chorizo (of course) style seitan. So perfect with just the right amount of spice!

  3. I’ve never used they’re products before but I’d love to try it out and trick my roomies at our next taco night!

  4. I’ve used their ground beef-style seitan in spaghetti with “meat” sauce and it rocked my world! My (then) boyfriend, who is a meat eater, LOVED it. Score. 🙂

  5. I LOVE your Chorizo-Style Seitan. I use it in stir-frys, chili, pasta, soup and on pizza. Even my non-vegan husband likes it. It’s a yummy product..thank you for making it.

  6. We haven’t found Upton’s yet to try it, but after that drool-worthy biscuit & gravy food porn, I would definitely want to make that. And I seriously want to wear a giant mustache on my chest! Yay for mustaches!

  7. As a recent convert, I am in love with the chorizo seitan. I love it so much more than “soy rizo” and feel better about eating it. I’ve tried the flavors at a Veg Fest, but have only bought the chorizo- I think the Italian is up next. Yum!

  8. I used to live in Chicago, and now I am in southern Georgia and I can’t get your products here, but my best friend will try and mail them here. I would love to try it in my vegan enchiladas. Yum!! By the way, I would love to wear an Upton’s shirt in a place that is all about bbq meat! Tell them a thing or two! I’ll get pictures with me wearing the shirt all over southern Georgia.

  10. I love their chorizo Seitan for delicious tacos, and Italian with spaghetti but you can’t beat their prepackaged veganchickenbaconranch wraps they sell at whole foods. Delicious!!!

  11. I’ve never used Upton’s, but now I’m going to look for it in the grocery store. We usually use Veganomicon’s seitan recipe! Love the stache.

  12. I have not tried Upton’s since they are not available anywhere near me but their products sound delicious. I’d like to try both their hamburger-style and italian sausage-style seitan and make (not)meatballs out of them 🙂

  13. I’ve never tried seitan before, so I’d probably go with the basics and just try the Traditional Seitan. Not sure what I’d cook with it, maybe stir fry it? Hrm. I’d have to go on a massive recipe hunt to find something good for my first attempt!

Also, your link for the sizing chart isn’t working, it says “not found”.

  14. I rarely buy packaged seitan, but Upton’s sounds like it’s worth a try! Unfortunately, no Upton’s in FL. I’ll have to try it next time I travel north. Given the chance, I’d try the chorizo in tacos.

  15. I use the chorizo seitan to make some vegan burritos and pair it with Half Acre Daisy Cutter. Probably the 3rd best pairing ever conceived.

  16. I live in Chicago so I get the wraps for lunch at one of the Lakeview Whole Foods locations at least once a week. I love those wraps. I wish they had them everywhere.

  17. I would totally use the Italian style seitan on a pizza…or a hearty kale and sausage soup. It sounds so yummy. I would also totally rock that Tshirt! It’s super cute!

  18. I love the chorizo style the best too! I was hooked from the moment I saw that mustache. I mix it up with some special taco seasoning, perfect for any Mexican dish, or toss it in a pot with some veggies and pasta sauce for awesome italian (I actually like the chorizo flavor over the italian-sausage one for this, honest). Thanks for the great giveaway!

  19. I’ve been craving Mexican food lately, so I’d use that ground beef-style seitan to make some tasty vegan tacos.

  20. i squealed when first my eyes fell upon those old-timey mustaches. then, i experienced what can only be labeled as “bliss” when i read the 100% vegan label. (“People use that word bliss too loosely! for now i know the true meaning”, i muttered to myself as i gazed lovingly upon the flavor choices.) i quickly grabbed the chorizo-style package and threw it in my basket. i had to stop myself from going into a manic fit and grabbing all four or more like knocking the whole shelf into my basket with one swoop of my arm. “No…no, take your time with this one,” the voice inside me begged. i nodded. “you are right. better start with just one. those other handsome mustachioed gentlemen will wait for you.”

the above happened just last night!

this morning i threw the chorizo-style seitan in a pan with a little oil and some sauteed onions. i served it atop roasted potatoes and garnished with a little pico de gallo and chopped cilantro. i’m in love.

  21. Sadly they don’t sell the products here. But I would love to try the Chorizo-style seitan Tamales con mole! Those sound so amazing! I have been wanting to try seitan forever. And I miss tamales!

  22. I like to fry up the Italian Sausage-Style Seitan and throw it on top of salad of chopped romaine, onion, tomato, crumbled falafel and vegan Caesar dressing. 🙂

  23. I’ve tried the Italian in spaghetti – YUM! I’d like to try the chorzio and again the Italian for biscuits and gravy! I purchased this a couple of hundred miles from me (the closest Whole Foods) on the way home from a trip. Wish it were available in my neck of the woods!

  24. I would LOVE to try the ground beef to make Dirty Rice! All of them sound so delish and I love the mustache! 🙂 I would totally rock it!

  25. I hope I’m not to late! My partner has been working on his moustache for nearly a year, so we’re a huge fan of Uptons. I love the chorizo style in burritos and tofu scrambles. and anything.
