November MiniMoFo Round Up!

November MiniMoFo Round Up!

We’re happy to see that you weren’t too exhausted from VeganMoFo – lots of you embraced November’s lazy MiniMoFo theme!  Let’s check in on what’s been cooking!

@notfunatparties

Lazy food needn’t mean junk food – check out this plate of veg, rice and chick’n!  This is a lot more effort than I put in when I’m feeling lazy, so it’s extra impressive!

@vegan.raptor

Vegan Raptor took Ron Swanson for a lazy Sunday brunch. Ron has really come round to veganism – he looks ready to dive into those pancakes!

@dimsimkitty

MoFo regular Susan didn’t disappoint with this easy and delicious cheeseboard. Smoked sesame cheese sounds quite special, doesn’t it?!

@juli.ane_x

Juli travels like every Brit – too lazy to pack a lunch, you’ve got to treat yourself to a meal deal!  Fortunately Pret has plenty of options for the vegan on the go.

Coastal Vegan

Clare undertook some serious research into new ready meals from Waitrose in the UK – and one of them contains chicken pieces from the Vegetarian Butcher!  What a time to be alive!  Check out the full review on her blog.

@ladyfunk25

Angie has the right idea with this quick and easy stir fry made from whatever’s left in the fridge!

@veganistamama

Kimchi and black bean nachos sound extremely exciting!  Veganista Mama just threw these together at the last minute when she realised it was National Nachos Day – now that’s good improvising!

@vegfullife

Kristy made a big pot of goulash for her lazy meal!  This contains red lentil pasta, beefy crumbles and fire roasted tomatoes – it sounds absolutely delicious!

@ambereatsveg

Amber was feeling under the weather, so she was sticking to simple, lazy dishes, like this Asian coleslaw. Doesn’t it look sensational?!

@mosolyoga

This raw veggie bowl looks so refreshing – and so easy to throw together!

@pennyrakau

Doesn’t a fancy jar make all the difference? These PB&J overnight oats could be served in a fancy cafe, but Penny knows it takes mere minutes to whip up at home – including the homemade jam!

@mrs.spaetzle

Mrs S didn’t only make a lazy dish using whatever was in the fridge, she also invented a new meal!  Introducing “linner” – when you get home and it’s too early for dinner, but far too late for lunch.  We’ve all been there!

@twohappyrabbits

Our favourite travelling vegans threw this together on the road:  a tofu egg salad with pita, pickles and pea shoots!  Look at those vibrant colours!

@veg_domesticgoddess

Kira knows that lazy food isn’t just about having a hearty tempeh chilli in your freezer for emergencies, it’s also about minimising the washing up by using the same pan to heat the chilli and the quesadillas!

@veganfeastcatering

I can’t believe it’s still warm enough for ice lollies anywhere, but Janet’s proving me wrong by digging one of these blackberry and merlot pops out of the freezer for a lazy treat!

One Raw Bite

Jennifer’s lazy post was one that she hadn’t got round to posting for eight months!  This review of Philadelphia restaurant Circles appears to be worth the wait though – just look at the pad thai!

My Apologies for the Novel

I didn’t think anyone would manage to combine our MiniMoFo theme with Thanksgiving, but Julie proved me wrong!  Her post combines a quick and easy mac’n’cheese with a hearty Thanksgiving plate.  You can find out more on her blog.

Herbivores’ Heaven

There’s nothing better than a good lazy brunch, and over at HH you can read about not one but two all-vegan, all-you-can-eat buffet brunches!

Living the Dream @ Deer Run

Jen gives us another post-hurricane update along with a recipe for bread that’s so lazy, you can make it in your crock pot while you run around doing a million errands!

Not such a lazy month after all!  Thanks to everyone who has shared a recipe or picture this month.  Stay tuned for an announcement on December’s MiniMoFo theme!

November MiniMoFo

November MiniMoFo

You might be exhausted after a whole month of food blogging and snapping, but there’s no rest for the wicked:  MiniMoFo is back!  This time it should be easy-peasy though – you’ve got a whole month to make just one post, and the theme is:

Lazy!

You can interpret this however you like. It could be your favourite convenience food, your favourite spot for a leisurely coffee, a meal that your flatmate makes for you while you’re lazing on the sofa, your easiest recipe…so many possibilities!

Whatever angle you choose, just remember to use the hashtag #MiniMoFo on social media or post your link in the comments below, and check back at the end of the month for our roundup.

We want VeganMoFo to be the best it possibly can be, so we’d love to hear your feedback and comments and find out what you want for next year. So we’d love it if you could spare a little time to fill in our ten question survey and tell us your thoughts – you can also let us know which month you’d most like VeganMoFo 2018 to be held in!

Even if you didn’t register for VeganMoFo 2017, we’d still love to hear from you – registered participants, latecomers who joined in and spectators who were happily liking and commenting are all welcome to give us feedback.

And to show our appreciation, we’ll randomly select one respondent to win the in-print vegan cookbook of their choice!  This prize will be available internationally.

You can find the survey here!

The survey is open from now until midnight GMT, Thursday 16th November.  We’ll contact the winner and announce the month for VeganMoFo 2018 shortly afterwards!

It’s almost winter, which means it’s more important than ever to moisturise.  We’re here to help with our latest giveaway that will keep your lips perfectly soft, and pretty darn delicious too!  If you’ve never used Crazy Rumors lip balms before, you are definitely in for a treat!

Crazy Rumors was started by Edie and Brian Himmel back in 2003 when they realised that they couldn’t find any fun, flavoursome lip balms that were made with natural vegan ingredients.  They swiftly set about changing that, and have now developed a massive range of creative flavours!  You can learn more about their story here, and explore their full range on their website too.

Edie and Brian have kindly donated five pairs of Crazy Rumors lip balms, each one heading out to a different lucky winner!  And brace yourself, there are some incredible flavours:

  • Sweet and spicy:  Ginger Ale and Bee My Honey
  • Ice cream 1: Orange Creamsicle and Raspberry Sherbet
  • Ice cream 2: Mint Chocolate and Banana Split
  • Hot drinks:  Spiced Chai and Hot Cocoa
  • Sweet treats:  Chocolate Strawberry and Candy Corn

If you’d like to win, just comment here on this post or on Instagram to let us know which pair you would most like to win!  (Please note we can’t guarantee that you’ll get your top choice, but we’ll do our best!)  We’ll pick the five winners at random.  This giveaway is open internationally to registered VeganMoFo participants, and it will close at midnight Pacific Daylight Time.

Our Australian MoFo’ers probably need no introduction to The Cruelty Free Shop. You can find them in Melboure, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane, as well as online.  The shop was started  back in 2001 when Jessica Bailey wanted to make going vegan easier for people by doing all the label-reading and research herself and providing a nice easy one-stop online shop for the Australian vegan community.  In 2012 she opened the first of their supermarkets in Sydney, and stores in three other cities soon followed.

Not only do they sell a huge range of vegan food, but you can also get your hands on health and beauty products, clothes and accessories,books, and the beloved Vegan Mystery Box!  Oh, and their Christmas stock is already in too!

Congratulations to our winner, @ambereatsveg!

Week 2 of VeganMoFo 2017 is all about Behind the Scenes – the gadgets, tricks and secret ingredients that help you to produce your culinary masterpieces.  While we’re thinking about the processes in the kitchen, it seems like the perfect time to run a series of cookbook giveaways courtesy of the wonderful people at Vegan Heritage Press.

Vegan Heritage Press is an independent vegan publishing company which is no doubt behind some of your favourite recipe books – check out their published authors here!  They are staffed by vegans and are doing great work meeting the growing demand for vegan cookbooks.

From Monday to Friday this week we’re running a daily giveaway of one of Vegan Heritage Press’ new titles.

On Thursday, we’re giving you the chance to win a copy of NYC Vegan by Michael Suchman and Ethan Ciment.  Michael and Ethan (who also blog at VeganMos.com) are native New Yorkers sharing recipes inspired by Old New York, delis and diners, Jewish specialities, and more!  They’ve got recipes like knishes, soft pretzels and New York-style cheesecake.  Delicious!

For your chance at winning, leave a comment either here on our Instagram post telling us:  what’s your favourite New York dish?  We’ll choose a winner at random.  This giveaway is only open to participants in the USA who are registered for VeganMoFo.  Participants are allowed to enter all five giveaways this week, you don’t need to limit yourself to one.  The competition closes at midnight Pacific Daylight Time.  Good luck!
