January MiniMoFo!

January MiniMoFo!

It’s a new year, a new month, and time for a new MiniMoFo! January’s MiniMoFo is all about Creating Warmth. For those of us in the northern hemisphere who are feeling slightly chilly at the moment, you might like to make food that warms you up and staves off the cold. If not, you might want to find other ways to heat up your food – do you use chillies, or peppercorns? Mustard or wasabi? What unusual – or not – ways do you create warmth in your food?

Remember, MiniMoFo is open to anyone – whether you’ve previously participated or not! Just make it vegan, and either use the hashtag #MiniMoFo on social media or post the link in the comments below to be featured in the roundup at the end of them month!

December MiniMoFo Roundup

December MiniMoFo Roundup

Welcome to 2018! We hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and ate lots of delicious food – and from all the MiniMoFo contributions, we are pleased to see all the baking you’ve been doing/eating!

My Apologies for the Novel

Julie got someone else to do the festive baking for her, and headed to Vegan Treats, an all vegan bakery, where she got a Christmas tree cheesecake-on-a-stick (really! Check out the picture on her blog) and this adorable reindeer cake.

@crumbs.and.caramel

Look at this beautiful chocolate fudge cake from Crumbs and Caramel, topped with frosted berries which make it oh-so-festive!

Herbivore’s Heaven

Jenny went out for a festive afternoon tea – she’s quite the connoisseur of vegan afternoon teas and is keen to point out that this was a rare hummus-free tea, a sign of a truly creative host! Doesn’t it look quaint and tasty?

@raisinsecte

Sophie made a vegan bûche des fêtes – which looks amazingly chocolatey and rich and tasty!

@notfunatparties

Jenny used the Chocolate Yoghurt Bundt Cake recipe from Isa’s Superfun Times cookbook and added mint glaze, sea salt flakes, and raspberry dust to make a beautiful Christmassy cake.

@vegfullife

Hands up who else made sugar cookies this month? A classic for the season, and Kristy’s look delicious topped with buttercream and sprinkles!

Just Bloggs

Justine’s mince pies have homemade pastry and mincemeat – with cranberries for that extra festive touch! Find the recipe on her blog.

@onewindowsarah

Sarah made vegan and gluten free snickerdoodles following an Oh She Glows recipe. Snickerdoodles are great year round, but the spices make them perfect for festivities!

@dimsimkitty

Susan also used the Superfun Times cookbook to make these cranberry spice oatmeal cookies. Cranberries keep cropping up this month and for good reason – they’re delicious!

@veganfeastcatering

Sprinkled with sugar, Janet’s blueberry scones are sparkly and beautiful. Sweet scones are a tasty way to start the day!

@ksp_vgn

Kristen’s array of vegan Christmas cookies is quite breathtaking! Where would you start first? I want to try them all!

@vegan_raptor

Eat the biscuits, you must. Vegan Raptor’s cookies seem to have been held hostage, but they look good enough to fight for.

@lisarturner

Biscotti are another holiday favourite – here are Lisa’s maple-walnut biscotti cooling before being iced. Could you wait?

@veganistamama

Veganista Mama made marzipan from scratch! And coated it in chocolate – which sounds like the perfect snack (and look at the cute snowman plate!)

@juli.ane_x

How about some savoury Christmas baking? Here’s Juli’s Christmas centrepiece – which is quite honestly beautiful! It’s a Moroccan spiced spinach and pumpkin pie and sounds delicious.

@happylittlelunch

As always, Happy Little Lunch has come through with a wonderful lunch for her kid! She’s also included little sugar cookies to decorate to fit into this month’s theme.

@oohsarracuda

Candy canes are so very festive, and stirred into chocolate chip cookies? Yes please! Sarra’s candy cane cookies look amazing.

@ladyfunk25

More cookies? Er, of course! You can never have too many cookies. These crinkle cookies are so pretty, too!

@ambereatsveg

Not only do these cookies look tasty, they also come with a history! Amber veganised her grandmother’s recipe for Mexican Wedding Cookies – veganising family recipes is a wonderful way to bring people together.

@yixzyy

And where would Christmas be without some gingerbread? Emma made these tiny gingerbread men for Christmas!

Living the Dream

If you’ve been following Jen’s story this year, you’ll know that it’s been really rough for her and her family – living in the Keys and being hit very hard by Irma. That makes it even more impressive that she baked hundreds of sugar and gingerbread cookies to give out to the community! How amazing is she?

@vegansneedsauce

Just take a minute to look at that gorgeous gooey chocolate frosting. Ooooh. And doesn’t the raspberry compliment it perfectly? No wonder Emily’s cakes went down a treat at her party!

@vegandollhouse

Isn’t this a work of art?! Vegan Dollhouse’s carousel is stunning, and must have taken a lot of hard work!

@hcmerenda

Crinkle cookies again, because I just love crinkle cookies. Helen made two varieties – chocolate mint and chocolate cardamom. Yum!

Thank you everyone who took part in this month’s MiniMoFo – it’s been packed full of some delicious bakes! Stay tuned to find out all about January’s MiniMoFo…
